What A Way To Start The Day!!

It's a Friday, and for me, Friday is a good day as its the last day before the start of a weekend. Moreover this Friday is the 14th of March, 2008, and being a Formula 1 fan, this weekend is when the 2008 Formula 1 season kicks off. Its also the last weekend before Easter, which means fewer days at the office next week.

But this Friday was different, at least the way it started out. I just walked into office, settling down comfortably in my seat, getting ready for work and sipping the morning tea. I was browsing through a few official mails when the tea cup slipped from my hands fell to one side of the table, spilling tea all over the place and eventually the cup smashing into lots of pieces.

I'm going to pick a few important phrases from the last sentence of the previous paragraph and explain them in detail.

The first is slipped from my hands- I really don't know how that happened but it must have been when I tried gripping the cup more firmly.

The second is one side of the table- At my cublicle (just like everyone else's), there are only two sides- the side where the monitor and keyboard reside and the other side, where I sit and face the aforementioned two components. The side, in this case, was my side.

The third is spilling tea all over the place- This 'place', where all the tea spilled, was my white linen shirt. White and linen are very important words in this context- white, because a patch or a smudge of any other color can be easily identified, and linen, because the fabric is so bloody expensive. Cotton, wool, polyester and linen are all the same when it comes to absorbing liquids.

The fourth is cup smashing into lots of pieces- This really didn't matter much, so there- I have nothing much to write about it.

I mean, I would be so comfortable with all that tea spilling on the keyboard. Even if I had to buy a new keyboard of the same type it wouldn't cost much. But a white linen shirt WILL burn a hole in my pocket.

Needless to say, I rushed back home, washed up, dressed and returned to work. Even as I write this, I'm wearing a beige colored t-shirt; neither is it expensive, nor will a tea stain be visible should I choose to so dramatically spill again.

What a way to start the day!!
